Benefits of Barre

Regular practice (three to five times a week) can increase muscle density, decrease body fat, improve flexibility and posture and rev up your metabolism. The hour-long Barre Class Boston MA  is a blend of strength training with our own body weight or light hand weights, interval cardio and lots of stretching.  The ballet-inspired workout focuses on incredibly efficient, tiny movements. Take our average sit-up. There is about a one-inch range of motion that makes up the most challenging and

beneficial part of that exercise – we’ll call it the sweet spot.  In a barre class, we’ll spend several minutes holding and working with tiny pulses in that sweet spot until our muscles not only burn but also shake with fatigue. Each muscle group is stretched immediately after it’s worked which promotes longer, leaner muscles and better recovery so we’re less sore the next day.

Don’t be fooled by its ballet roots, even though it looks graceful, it’s anything but effortless. Are you ready to return to the barre – even if your childhood experience was as embarrassing and uncoordinated as mine?

8:45 am - 10:00 am
A fun, flowing class that combines postures and sequences from various styles of yoga to give your body the breath work and movement it needs. With a dynamic flowing sequence of postures linking breath and movement, one can cultivate awareness while building core strength and flexibility. Open to all levels, but is best suited for those with some yoga experience, looking for a full-body workout.

“Compassion is something you can develop with practice. It involves two things: intention and action. Intention simply means you remember to open your heart to others; you expand what and who matters, from yourself to other people. Action is simply the ‘what you do about it.’” – Richard Carlson, PH.D.
I’m a Boston College graduate with a B.A. in Communications and have worked many jobs in marketing and television broadcasting. I’m always on the go and have little time to just relax or do something for me. So, when a friend first introduced me to yoga in 2009, I was a bit skeptical. My type A personality and the fact that I had been a dancer since the age of 3 made me think…’I don’t know if yoga is for me.’ But to my surprise after my first class I was hooked. Yoga quickly became a part of my life and the bonds you form with your fellow yogis are undeniable. It helped me to relax, take time for myself and enjoy life by living in the present and being open to happiness.
Yoga is more than just the physical practice of asana. With a regular yoga practice you’re capable of opening up your mind, body and soul to endless possibilities. Yoga has helped me to find a deeper love and compassion for myself as well as others. It helps me to clear my mind, relax and be comfortable and confident with the present. Using breathe works in every aspect of life because life works in funny ways. When you see the positive side in whatever life throws your way; you are heading in the right direction.
Because yoga became such a huge part of my life, I decided that I wanted to teach. I completed my 200-hour teacher training at Back Bay Yoga in July 2011 and began teaching right away. I love teaching and being able to help others through yoga as my teachers have helped me. In February of 2013, I left my full-time job to follow my passion of teaching yoga. In my classes, I try to cover many of the main postures, so you feel as though you have a total body workout, but I also concentrate on alignment and breath. I know you will get a good workout, but I also hope my classes can allow you to escape and clear your head, so they are spiritual as well. I encourage all to come and try a class. I hope to create a safe, fun and judgment free environment. Everyone can do yoga; all you need is a good attitude and an open mind. It’s called a ‘practice’ for a reason and you never really master any pose. It’s not all about the poses; it’s about you and your breath on your mat; everything else is secondary.
In July of 2013, Lululemon named me their first ambassador for the Lynnfield Market Street store and the experience thus far has been amazing. It has been so much fun connecting with the surrounding communities and I’m looking forward to this new journey. I feel honored, blessed and grateful to be doing something I love everyday!

I hope to have the opportunity to guide you through your practice and have you leave feeling relaxed and fulfilled.

Yoga Studio Offers Complementary Exercise

The CrossFit community, Visalia’s cultish group of super fitness diehards, would do well to add a little yoga to their regimen, says Denise Head, the owner of downtown’s newest yoga business, the Painted Elephant Yoga Studio, located at 525 E. Acequia Ave.

But Head can say that. She’s a CrossFitter herself.

Head, who comes from a nursing background, is a co-owner and instructor at CrossFit Visalia.

But it’s not just CrossFitters who could use a little yoga. Anyone, she says, would benefit from her community approach to health and well being.
